Urban vs. Rural: Developing Criteria for Categorization
Activity:
The Lesson/ Whole Group
- As a class, the students brainstorm possible subheadings of how they can organize their post-it notes and ideas about urban and rural communities Ex. Transportation, Infrastructure, Employment, Leisure/ Activities, etc. - As a class, decide on 5 categories that they'd like to know more about The Activity - Assign each table group one subheading - Each group will develop criteria for urban/ rural or both (using a Venn Diagram) -At the end of the period, have each group present their ideas and other students can add in their post-its from the two previous days.
